Mark Nadler

In this show, Mark Nadler gives a bravura performance based on the tongue- twisting

Weill-Gershwin classic  in which 48 Russian composers are rattled  off at breakneck speed,

a remarkable lesson in history, musicology and humanity.
Mark dissects Gershwin's lyrics, samples new songs, performs old evergreens

and flirts with contemporary styles which display distinct influences from Esoteric

Russian composers. Nadler offers musical fragments and instant analyses

(and in some cases personality profiles) of a good number of the 48 composers.

In between, he makes fanciful leaps of connection between his research and a

dozen first-rate songs by composers from Rogers and Hart to John  Wallowitch

and Adam Guettal.
