Originally commissioned for the Savannah Music Festival in Johnny Mercer's hometown of Savannah, Georgia, Andrea's personal homage, "Skylark: Marcovicci Sings Mercer", celebrates one of America's finest lyricists who was also a respected solo artist contributing hits like Something's Gotta Give and Dream. This multiple Oscar winner collaborated with our finest composers including Harold Arlen, Hoagy Carmichael, Jerome Kern, Henry Mancini, Jimmy Van Heusen, and Harry Warren, creating hits for Sinatra,
In celebration of Mr. Mercer's centennial, in "Skylark", Andrea illuminates the man behind the music through delightful anecdotes, and digs deep into the pensive, heartbreaking and often impish lyrics crafted by Mercer. In addition to finding undiscovered gems in his repertoire from Georgia State University Special Collections, "Skylark" will include familiar hits like the title song as well as: Ac-Cent-Tchu-Ate the Positive, That Old Black Magic, One for My Baby (and One More for the Road), Too Marvelous For Words, Autumn Leaves, Goody, Goody and of course, Moon River.
