KT Sullivan & Mark Nadler

THE ADELAIDE REVIEW

ALWAYS: The Love Story Of Irving Berlin  -  June 27, 2005   Michael Morley

Surpassing all others in the smoothness stakes two years ago were New York duo KT Sullivan and Mark Nadler, and their return appearance promised to add a dimension of yesteryear charm in five nostalgia-type shows. They achieved way more than that. Always, the story of Irving Berlin, oozed with charm but was everything else as well. For starters, Nadler is a ferociously fine pianist. He is wizard at timing and capable of exploding out from the most delicately light pianissimo to all-out flamboyant rage. Both are also fine, schmoozy singers for cabaret and consummate comunicators. Their exquisitely conceived and performed two-hour show, with four dozen songs intricately relating the poignant story of the composer’s life and loves, did not skip a beat.
